Today I was summoned for Jury Duty...in Malibu. Best place to get called to Jury duty as the courts aren't that busy and if they are its with Nick Nolte or Mel Gibson or Gary Busey
Anyhow I was excused as there was no trial for today. I went down the street and ate at this great place called MoonShadows.
They have an outside counter that is literally over ocean. I sat there and ate my nice lunch in peace. The weather was perfect. I could see Palos Verdes to the south, Catalina straight out, and Pt Dume to the North. The shot above was my view. The character to the left walked over and stole my butter out of the bread basket.
Yesterday I was in Redmond and Seattle. At the end of the day I needed to catch a cab from the Edgewater hotel to SeaTac. My flight was at 6:55 and I called for a cab at 5:30. It was raining (big surprise) and the cab driver didn't get there til almost 6 and was dropping off his current passenger
As I rushed to get in the cab the exiting passenger decided to pay his $12 fare with a credit card. That took another 5 minutes and clearly the cab driver seemed stressed. As I got in the cab I noticed that the entire front windshield was completely fogged up. The driver told me he was having a horrible day and that his defogger wasn't working etc etc.
We drove to the airport in a rush with the front windshield COMPLETELY fogged up. It was a bit scary. As we pulled up to the airport about 6:30 I was concerned about making my flight. In my pocket I had the following bills, $10, $5, $100, the meter read $30
As we pulled up to the gate I asked the driver if he could break a $100 bill and he said, " no but I can take a credit card". I reflected on the 5 minutes it took when the previous passenger paid with a credit card. Instead I gave th driver my card, the $100 bill and told him that he could keep $50 but that he needed to mail me back $50.
At first he looked confused but then he seemed to quickly digest what I had offered and in a soft tone looked at me and said, "yeah I can do that".
I got out of the cab, made my flight, and wonder if I will get $50 in the mail.
I try and get out on the Ocean as much as I can and often on Fridays. Over the past few years the farther I go and the rougher the conditions the more extreme I want to take it. I am indeed becoming an adrenaline junky but I love it.
Today is my daughters birthday so I need to be around and help out for the preparations for the events of later today. Bummer because as you can see from the posted ocean condition report to the left today is Gale Force winds and strong combined seas. If only I could go out and get the shit kicked out of me by this conditions-ahhh that would be great.
This evening I spent about an hour at Frys Electronics. I LOVE Frys electronics! I was in the Apple area (which has shrunk significantly and is really just one large table-I guess it's hard for retailers to compete with the Apple stores) and noticed something odd about their pricing.
The top of the line 24" brand new dual core blah blah iMac is $1,799. The 30" cinema display, whose display is just 6 inches larger than the 24" iMac and comes without the Computer, memory, drives etc etc is also $1.799. Seems like I would rather get an entire computer along with a 24" monitor than an extra 6 inches-I guess some people really need that six inches (sorry couldn't help myself :-). Apple must have great margins on those 30" Displays
