During the first week of June I will be doing a solo adventure from Florida to and through the Bahamas and back. I will be doing this as a fundraiser for a few of my favorite charities. It will probably take a week but given that I cant predict ocean conditions it could be shorter, it could be a little longer.
I ride frequently enough that I believe I am physically prepared. Part of the preparation is riding weekly and riding hard. Between that and my current "middle aged" status, it's taking a toll on my hands.
So in preparation for the trip I did what any good athlete would do, I went to my DR and had him inject cortisone into a few places in my hand. He pointed out that this doesn't really fix the damage that is being done but that it will decrease the inflammation and therefore the discomfort. Exactly... That is what I need now
I invite any of you to remind me of this in 10 years when I complain that my hands hurt. It will be worth it
